Hotel Info for Baton Rouge Workshop

Hey, y'all.  I just finalized the group rate for the hotel in Baton Rouge.

Amerisuites Baton Rouge.  $89 for Saturday and Sunday nights.  Call 225-769-4400 to book your room.  Group ID: Shelby Lane Workshop.

Our roundtable discussion on Sunday night and Monday's workshop will both be held at the AmeriSuites.  Make sure you bring some marketing materials and some images to share for Sunday night's get together... it is a great way to get some feedback on your own pieces as well as some new ideas from others.

Your questions answered

I have been getting a lot of email and PMs and phone calls from y'all about the workshops.  So here are some of the answers, all at once:

Local Workshops, got any more info?  Right now, no.  I have two more in the works for this year, but they are not local.  The local workshops will normally be reserved for photographers from outside of the New Braunfels/San Antonio/Austin area.  I hope to have some dates on the calendar soon, but until I get some stuff settled with the out of state groups, I don't want to put anything down in ink.

The Baton Rouge workshop.  You don't need to be a member of PPLA.  You don't need to be from Louisiana.  I have gotten emails from people here in Texas and surrounding states.  It helps if you're a PPA member because you will get a discounted rate on the first day's registration.  If you are from out of state, this is something to consider -- normally, a two day workshop will be around $300, but since PPLA is hosting the first day, this one will be anywhere from $200 to $250.  So if you want to come out and participate in the program, the late February date in Louisiana is a great deal.

Are you coming to my area anytime soon?  Well, maybe.  Shoot me an email and we'll talk.  :)  I can only book so many of these a year before they start conflicting with my client schedule, but I am open to a couple more for 2007.

More questions?  Try using the blog's "comments" feature till my email is back online again.

Baton Rouge, February 25th and 26th.  I hope to see you all there!  It is probably the lowest price you'll ever see for my workshops, since it's hosted by PPLA, so come on out!

So, it's official...

I'll be speaking in Baton Rouge, LA for PPLA's Winter Workshop on February 25th and 26th.  There's more info on my site (www.shelbylane.net) or at the Professional Photographers of Louisiana site www.ppla.net.  I am so excited to be working with PPLA... I got to spend some time with them last summer and they are a fanastic group of people.  I'm looking forward to seeing y'all again!

We're going to talk about business philosophy, pricing, the baby club, some lighting and posing, and finding your style.  Two full days!  The first day is hosted by PPLA, and the second will be more in depth and will build on a lot of what we touch on that first day -- so those of y'all who are interested, you have to have gone to day 1 to come to day 2.  :D  I can talk a LOT and have a ton of information for y'all, so bring a notebook.  The people who come to day 2 will take home a workshop materials packet and will be invited to a roundtable discussion on Sunday night.  Both days: $200.  You can register through the PPLA website.  The topic schedule is up there, too.

Thanks again, Dayna and Tim, for helping me work through this process and get everything organized.  Y'all are the best.  And thanks to PPLA for asking me to come out!  I can't wait to share all this with you.
