Getting ready to go...

I am getting so excited about the Georgia workshop.  I have a couple of slots left for you last minute people, but we have started putting all the packets together so we're definitely cutting it off after that.  It looks like Roseann has some great places to shoot indoors and out, and we're going to have a great time.  For me, you can't just talk about the why's and how's of lighting.  You have to see it done in person to see what will just "work" and what will look great.  While we're out there, we'll talk about looking for good light, how to use it to your best advantage (and cut down on some post production time) and how to look for backgrounds that will compliment your subject along with that light, not just finding pretty places to shoot.  You should all have gotten a "school supply" list by now.  If you haven't, let me know.

In other news, the Dallas workshop (July 21st and 22nd) is filling up very fast.  The early bird deadline for that 'shop is this weekend, so get your registrations in now if you want the discounted price.  If you are already registered and have friends that would like to attend, tell them to get with me asap.  Once I start the workshop in Georgia, I'm not sure how quickly I will be able to respond to emails and I think that this one will end up selling out.

Summer dates filling up fast

Well, the early bird deadline has passed for the Georgia workshop, but we do have a few more openings left.  We have a fantastic group so far for both Georgia and Dallas and I'm so excited about meeting you all in person -- some of you, I feel like I have known for years but we've never actually met face to face.  I've been taking a few minutes here and there to look at your websites and it's so much fun to see what y'all shoot and how you present yourselves to your clients.

I will be back next week to answer some email questions and with some of the setup shots that I've promised so many of you.

June Update

Well the Georgia workshop is about half full, and we've opened registration for the Dallas Workshop on July 21st and 22nd in Flower Mound.  We already have five registered for that one and I am really excited about seeing so many Texas and OK photographers in one place.  I am in negotiations to do two more workshops this year, but as the summer ends I will find it really difficult to get away from the studio, so at least one of those might be pushed to next Spring.

A couple of questions to answer.  Yes, if you are a Houston photographer you are more than welcome at any of the workshops.  I do some work out there but I don't market directly to Houston clients like I do with San Antonio and Austin.  Also, are we doing live demos.  YES.  I have a model for the Dallas workshop but may be looking for a baby model, so if anyone knows a volunteer let me know.  :)
