Bluebonnets!

I finally started seeing bluebonnets this week!  I still don't have a good, secret patch for portraits, though.  The one I used for years has been covered with highway construction materials.  Have you ever noticed that most bluebonnet patches are in really dangerous locations -- places where you wouldn't want your kids running around?  Or they're in "keep off the grass" areas that are safe, but against the rules to walk around on and shoot in.  McCurdy gets worried every time we try to do bluebonnet portraits.  "Are we going to get arrested for stepping on the state flower?"

So to answer all of you who have called asking, are you doing bluebonnet portraits?  The answer is, sadly, no, unless I find a good safe spot for all the kiddos to gather.  If you know of one that we could use, let me know and we'll have a secret sale.  :)

I have been very lucky, in our neighborhood there are fields of bluebonnets. They have been building houses on them so I don't know how much we will have. It always scares me to see people on the side of the highway.

PS You know you want my recipes.

There is a pretty nice little spot of wild flowers and bluebonnets over off of Schertz Parkway. You would have to park in the Jonas Woods subdivision and walk but there is a sidewalk and it is far enough off the main road to keep the kids safe.

Holly, thanks for the tip! I will drive out there today and take a look.

Mel, how about you share some recipes and I'll let you take the minivan for a spin? ;)
