Bluebonnet Update

Wow, the response to the bluebonnet sessions has been incredible.  A couple of things to clarify.  YES, you do need an appointment.  And YES, I do I have a couple on Friday afternoon left, and a couple on Saturday afternoon as well, but once those few are gone, we won't be able to book any more.  With outdoor portraits, we have a short window when the light is good, so the number of sessions we can offer for this event is very limited.  And finally, what should I wear?  Tans/khakis, denim, and pastels all look great.  Families should coordinate with the same style and tones, if possible.  You don't need to be matchy matchy, but everyone in denim and light blue is just fine.

Here is a shot from our promo two years ago.  These are a lot of fun to shoot -- they're such classic "Texas" images and the flowers are only there for such a short time each year.  I have these hanging in my house as 24x36 canvasses and they are some of my treasures.

Bluebonnet "Secret Sessions"

Okay, so they're not really secret.  But I did find a good patch that is not trampled down yet, is relatively safe ;) and has good parking nearby.  Sooooo, I will offer a limited number of bluebonnet sessions next Friday and Saturday (March 30th and 31st).  Family groups are welcome (although this space isn't big enough for extended families).  These once-chance-a-year portraits make for BEAUTIFUL wall art and Christmas cards (and for those of you with older kids, isn't that something you'd like to have taken care of NOW?).  Email or call me to sign up -- it will be first call/email first served for reservations, and I will be taking a session fee to hold appointments.

Growing up

9888

Y'all have seen Bryce before.  He was Chicken Little at Halloween, and Santa Baby at Christmas.  Well, now he's a one-year-old.  It feels like this year has gone by so fast... he is such a delight.  Thanks for letting me be a part of his life this year!  Bryce, come back and see me soon.  Here are some favorites from his birthday session.  I especially like his Elton John-style sunglasses.  That kid always brings the best props.  ;)

Our first annual White Sale

A big THANK YOU to everyone who came in for White Sale sessions yesterday and today.  It was a joy working with each of your kids and seeing how they're all growing up.  I'll be sending emails out to each of our attendees sometime tomorrow.  I had so much fun and it was great to see all of you again!  We have some really precious images of the kids -- I will post some tomorrow.

Bluebonnets!

I finally started seeing bluebonnets this week!  I still don't have a good, secret patch for portraits, though.  The one I used for years has been covered with highway construction materials.  Have you ever noticed that most bluebonnet patches are in really dangerous locations -- places where you wouldn't want your kids running around?  Or they're in "keep off the grass" areas that are safe, but against the rules to walk around on and shoot in.  McCurdy gets worried every time we try to do bluebonnet portraits.  "Are we going to get arrested for stepping on the state flower?"

So to answer all of you who have called asking, are you doing bluebonnet portraits?  The answer is, sadly, no, unless I find a good safe spot for all the kiddos to gather.  If you know of one that we could use, let me know and we'll have a secret sale.  :)

In search of Senior Models

Will you be a high school senior next year?  Do you know someone who will be?  I am looking for a few outgoing Class of 2008 girls and guys to represent the studio next year.  Email or call me for an application and for more info.

Still a few spots left

for our first annual White Sale!  It is next weekend, so call or email ASAP if you are interested in booking one of these limited appointments.  In keeping with the higher key set, these portraits would look best with white or tan/khaki clothing, or with simple pastels.  It will be perfect for Easter outfits!

Here is another image on the new set.
